Assassin’s Creed Shadows has so many wonderful locations that benefit from the seasons function. It allows us to experience the same place but with a different look. The winter season I feel brings out the best in the game. I think this capture is one of my favourites from Shadows. I love the composition and the Torii gate leaning against the tree. The textures on the snow look extremely life like and the fog lingering in the air adds to the ambiance. To me it feels like we are the foe lying in wait to ambush the unaware Shinobi. Naoe does look great riding her horse through the forest oblivious to the dangers that surround her.

Beauty

Game: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The delicate details added to the world of Assassin’s Creed are by far some of the most exquisite. However, these can so easily be missed when galivanting across the map to stop the order. The improved graphical power of the RPG era has further enhanced these nuances, allowing us to play in a world brimming with detail. This particular capture is magnificent and shows the often-overlooked beauty of Assassin’s Creed. The warm hue of the sun basked leaves is very eye catching. Valhalla is frequently remembered as a dark and depressing game but here you can see that it can contend with the other brighter titles.

Take the Leap

Game: Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will always be fondly remembered due to its ability to exude nostalgia and pay homage to the roots of the franchise. The decision to turn this into a mainline title was inspired, and Basim’s story has even greater meaning after the emotional ending to the Valley of Memory DLC. I find this photo to be reminiscent of the launch trailer as Basim leaps off a viewpoint towards the inevitable bale of hay below. The composition here is excellent and the depth of field really works to draw your eye to those impressive markings on the building. The saturation of the sky and the city are in harmony, giving us that Mirage feel. Superb touch to use the Altair robes, remake anyone?

Revolution

Game: Assassin’s Creed Unity

One of the biggest surprises of the year so far was the 60fps patch for Assassin’s Creed Unity. Along with the increased visuals this game doesn’t look out of place on the next gen consoles. The reception from the fans was fantastic and I was pleased to see Unity get the praise it deserves. I think Dave has capture the volatile and moody streets of Paris exceptionally here. The softer colours and the lighting are similar to what you see in the art books. I love how the French flag is visible in this photo against the backdrop of the misty atmosphere, it cries out revolutionary time period. We just need a dedicated photo mode now.

Living Memories

Game: Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Animus glitches within the Assassin’s Creed world is a common occurrence. That Sc Fi element is a core pillar of the franchise despite its decline in recent entries. Although not so much the focus in terms of story, the glitches do play a part in the world of Shadows often by means of challenges to unlock rewards. This photo is captivating due to the effects of the animus and how Naoe is so beautifully framed within it. I think the light source entering from the left delicately highlights the details of the armour and weapons. All the while casting a nice amount of shadow over the rest of the capture. It really makes you contemplate what Naoe would think of these strange glitches within Feudal Japan.

And that sums it up for this Assassin’s Creed virtual photography recap list!

Thank you for checking out the photo collection. This would not be possible without the virtual photographers out there so a huge thanks to them. Until next time keep those shots coming in!
