Weekly Assassin's Creed News Recap: 17th - 23rd July 2022: News Share 25 Jul 2022 Written By: Edited By: Colum Blackett (Col_96) Ashlea Blackett Back To Database Welcome to a new weekly Assassin's Creed News Recap series, hosted by Colum Blackett (Col_96) from The Ubisoft Star Players Program (Formerly Mentors Guild). Every week, we will be rounding up Assassin's Creed News and sharing it here on The Ones Who Came Before website. Keep an eye on the site every Sunday for more weekly recaps, or check out our social media links down below to stay updated on everything Assassin's Creed. In another week full of rumours regarding the future of Assassin's Creed, we decided to look past the sea of leaked information and focus on what really matters: The community 1) We begin this week's Assassin's Creed recap with a collaborative project. Community members Arshak ( AC: Landmarks ), Louise Chase (TheNerdyArcher), Zark ( Master Hekate's Ceremonials ), James ( Let's Talk Assassin's Creed ) & Science_creed all came together to host a 2-hour long virtual tour of London whilst playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate! Viewers were also acquainted with facts about Victorian London, as the hosts turned their extensive research into a fun trivia experience. We love to see collaborative community projects, and this one does a great job at cementing the importance of non-combat game modes like Discovery Tour. We hope to see more streams like this in the future, which compliment the Discovery Tour platform by providing fans across the world with bite-sized chunks of history. 2) We here at TOWCB kicked off the week with an exclusive merchandise review, written by Michael Smith from the Writing Team. Check out our review of the new Assassin's Creed Character Blind Box figures by AC Toys, who kindly sent over a review package. Article: A Look at ACToys’ Assassin's Creed Character Blind Box 3) This week our Virtual Photography Twitter Community passed 200 followers! If you're a photo-mode enthusiast, or simply an admirer of Assassin's Creed screenshots, join the community for a chance to be featured in our weekly ' This Week in Assassin's Creed Virtual Photography ' articles! Assassin's Creed VP Captures Community 4) We released the first article in a two-part series dedicated to The Mentors Guild, an Assassin's Creed community program which was sadly closed down in June. In our article, we reflected on the fondest moments and accomplishments of members, and looked back with fondness at a program which opened the doors to hundreds of community members around the world. Article: Mentor Memories: Remembering the Mentors Guild (Part 1) 5) Former lead Ubisoft game designer Stanislav Costiuc tweeted this week announcing a series of farewell sessions to say goodbye to the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Revelations and AC III Multiplayer modes which are sadly getting shut down. We here at TOWCB hope to see the multiplayer game modes reinstated one day, perhaps with the launch of the mysterious Assassin's Creed Infinity, which was announced back in 2021. The dates for the Multiplayer send-off sessions are: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood – July 23 and 24, July 29 and July 30 Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – August 5 and 6, August 12 and 13 Assassin’s Creed 3 – August 19 and 20, August 26 and 27 Reddit 6) Another project we launched this week was an unboxing video of the upcoming TITAN Evo 2022 AC Edition Gaming Chair, kindly sent to TOWCB Headquarters by Secretlab! A hidden blade was used to open the box, and we had a ton of fun filming the video, so we hope you enjoy! Article: Unboxing TITAN Evo 2022 Assassin's Creed Edition Gaming Chair by Secretlab 7) To celebrate AC Unity Week, Chris Tilton, who worked alongside Ryan Amon and Sarah Schachner on the exceptional Assassin's Creed Unity soundtrack released a sketch of when he was writing the main theme! This behind the scenes image will no doubt be appreciated by music lovers, and is a time capsule dating back to when the main theme was just an idea written on paper! It's a fun little Easter Egg for fans and the sort of content we love to see to mark the 15th Anniversary. You can follow Chris Tilton on Twitter 8) Finally, we conclude this week's news recap by highlighting our weekly Assassin's Creed virtual photography article by Aaron Young , this time featuring shots by: @calisarah1998 @Amaya_Nocturna @MoonsDonuts @punkncreed @Subject_72 You can find the article here: This Week in Assassin's Creed Virtual Photography: 16th - 22nd July 2022 We hope that you enjoyed this Assassin's Creed News Recap! • What we want to see from the Assassin's Creed Franchise in 2020 | TheOnesWhoCameBefore

What we want to see from the Assassin's Creed Franchise in 2020 Wishlists Share 29 Dec 2019 Written By: Edited By: Mieke Dix Ashlea Blackett Back To Database 5. Assassin’s Creed 1, Version 2.0 This is effectively a repeat from last year’s list which is why it’s first on this one, but it’s just as relevant. The game that started it all has yet to receive a remaster on current-gen platforms, unlike every other previous-gen title. Sure, there are plenty who dislike it due to its gameplay being simplistic and repetitive, particularly in comparison to the later games, but that doesn’t make Altaïr’s story any less compelling. It’s definitely a game that would benefit from a significant technical overhaul instead of merely an aesthetic one, which may well explain why they haven’t remastered it yet - or just won’t bother. However, whether we’ll be seeing this anytime soon or not is unclear, so all we can do is once again cross our fingers that it’ll feature in the upcoming UbiE3 lineup. 4. Next Instalment Announced With all the leaks and rumors that have been abounding on the internet this year, it’s somewhat inevitable that Ubisoft’s E3 press conference in June will feature a teaser trailer for the next game, at the very least. What’s less certain is whether Ubisoft will announce the game for release this year on current-gen only, or wait until 2021 when they can release it on the new Xbox and PS5, whether that’s a dual-release or next-gen only. This is where we can only hope that, if they are planning a dual-release, Ubisoft thoroughly learned their lesson following the disaster that was Rogue/Unity’s release. Whatever the case, we fully expect there to be a new main series title announced at some point in the coming year. 3. The Symphony on CD The Assassin’s Creed Symphony was a wonderful celebration of the many composers who have been a part of the franchise since its inception and their beautiful, emotive music. I personally attended the performance in London (and probably cried 90% of the time). Each game’s soundtrack was arranged into an excellently-composed suite which showcased the music at its best. What would be greatly appreciated, doubly so by those who couldn’t get a ticket for whatever reason, is an album of the arrangements for us to enjoy at our leisure. Of course, what would also be appreciated is an announcement that the Symphony will become an annual event visiting more locations worldwide, or even a series of concerts that would allow for even more arrangements of each soundtrack….! Wait, where was I? 2. Creed-Con 2020? (Confirmed 12/4/20) Something that was evident by the response to the Symphony - mainly the rapidity at which it sold tickets - is that there really is a market for official Assassin’s Creed events and experiences. That’s not to say that we demand an official Assassin’s Creed convention or anything, but there is plenty of scope for other events. (I mean, a convention also sounds freaking awesome). The community already organises a fair amount of events of their own accord, but to be able to pull all that passion under one, officially-endorsed roof would be grand. For example: the Symphony becoming a regular event could be a good start. It could be the perfect headline act of a convention, or even a one/two-day festival of celebration for the franchise, especially if it was then streamed live for all to enjoy. 1. A Return to its Roots I plan on getting a bit more in depth about this at some point, but let’s face facts: the series is nothing like it was in the beginning. This isn’t actually a bad thing, and Origins and Odyssey are both fantastic games. However, the criticism that neither game feels like Assassin’s Creed is entirely fair, and there is a good deal of worry that the series will just continue to stray further and further from where it began, until it’s purely Assassin’s Creed by name only. Hopefully we can see a return of the rooftop-skulking, shadow-lurking assassins that we all came to love, and less of the colossal maps half-full of empty space. We love naval combat because it’s fun, fast-paced and exhilarating, but we also love balancing precariously on window ledges four storeys up as we stalk a Templar far below, ready to dive gracefully into the nearest hay bale and wait for the perfect moment to strike. Now that is Assassin’s Creed at its heart, and we desperately want that back. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Condividi i tuoi pensieri Scrivi il primo commento. • The Future of Assassin's Creed: Ubisoft Forward 2022 News Recap | TheOnesWhoCameBefore

The Future of Assassin's Creed: Ubisoft Forward 2022 News Recap News Share 11 Sept 2022 Written By: Edited By: Colum Blackett (Col_96) Ashlea Blackett Back To Database Welcome to our Ubisoft Forward Assassin's Creed Showcase news recap, breaking down all of the key moments from the event. This article was assembled using The Ones Who Came Before social media coverage and notes from the early access press event which we attended earlier in the week, and will be continuously updated as more information becomes available. Introduction The Assassin's Creed showcase kicked off with a beautiful trip down memory lane. Immediately, fans were treated to a nostalgia filled recreation showing all of the Assassins in gold, immortalised as statues. This poignant coming together of the brand is exciting to see, as it technically breaks timelines, but shows that the Creed connects people throughout history. As suggested by our good friend Dave Woodward, this gold introduction should feature before all upcoming Assassin's Creed projects, just as Marvel have a special introduction before their projects. The Leap into History trailer also brings all the characters together, honing in on the idea that history is our playground, and through Assassin's Creed, we can journey to all corners of the earth. It was nice to see the return of Roger Craig Smith, who voiced an Ezio line for the trailer. I really enjoyed the introductions as they celebrate the past and future of the brand, but most importantly, the community. The panel was h osted by Danny Wallace and Alice Terrett from the Assassin's Creed team, who successfully generated excitement about the future of the franchise. Assassin's Creed Mirage Experience the story of Basim, a cunning street thief seeking answers and justice as he navigates the bustling streets of ninth–century Baghdad. Discover a narrative-driven action-adventure experience that follows the transformation of a defiant young man into a refined Master Assassin with a conflicted destiny. Meet an inspiring cast of characters who will shape Basim’s destiny and may be more than what they seem… Become the most versatile Assassin in franchise history. Parkour seamlessly through the city and leverage the largest assortment of tools to date. Get contracts at the Assassin’s bureaus, collect vital clues, and stealthily take down targets with more visceral assassinations than ever before. Ubisoft Forward gave us a healthy dose of the next title in the series, Assassin's Creed Mirage, releasing 2023! A shorter, more narrative-driven game than recent entries in the series We begin with a CGI trailer, chock-full of Assassin's Creed callbacks and easter eggs! Overall it is a very memorable and iconic Assassin's Creed trailer, exploring Basim's journey from a common street thief to a Master Assassin. He begins as a poor orphan wandering the streets, looking for something to eat. Things look bleak after he is caught stealing from a bustling marketplace, running away from the guards. After a failed attempt at parkour, he falls to the ground, surrounded by guards. He is then saved by the Hidden Ones, who go on to train him up. Basim's Mentor, Roshan is voiced by Emmy award-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. She has an unmistakable voice, and fans were immediately excited to hear of her involvement. Roshan is a 50 year old Persian warrior who fights for justice for The Hidden Ones, so Shohreh was immediately interested when Ubisoft approached her about the role as it resonated with her own background. She is loyal and honest, hiding her past behind a shroud of mystery. In keyart released for the character (below), we can see that Roshan wears white robes featuring a lot of red and brown, with an Assassin insignia taking priority on her belt. She holds a huge sword and dagger, and has a hidden blade on her left wrist. After escaping a life of oppression, Roshan became a master assassin at the Hidden Ones’ stronghold, Alamut. Now, she takes Basim under her wing as her first true apprentice. Basim is now voiced by Lee Majdoub, (Agent Stone from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise), as the game is set 20 years prior to Assassin's Creed Valhalla in Baghdad, beginning in 861 BCE. One thing that stands our in the trailer is Basim's progression, as his robes change as he progresses through the ranks. Originally born in Samarra, Basim lost his mother at a young age and grew up on his own in the streets of Baghdad. Basim admires the Hidden Ones, and dreams of joining them. One standout moment was the inclusion of Alamut castle, which later become the home of the real-life Assassin brotherhood, led by Hassan-i Sabbāh. In AC lore, it becomes a Levantine Assassin fortress that sits above a First Civilization Temple, housing the memory seals that Altair uses in Assassin's Creed Revelations. Another great moment is where Basim is initiated into the Hidden Ones, sacrificing his finger as is tradition. Basim returns to the mark where his journey began, this time in the traditional white robes of the Hidden Ones. Once again, he flees the scene, this time after assassinating several targets. His parkour abilities have now improved, and he uses red smoke bombs along with what looks like a poison trap, triggering once stood on. Notice that Basim now wears a vambrace very similar to the one worn by Altair in Assassin's Creed I. The trailer ends with Basim assassinating a target, who drops a mask very familiar to fans of the series. It is a mask of the the Order of Ancients, calling back to Assassin's Creed Origins. The new eagle companion spends the trailer circling Basim, showing the deep connection once again between a bird and Assassin. At the end of the trailer, we see Basim entering the memory corridor with his target, but a creature lurks in the shadows. It has been speculated that the creature could in fact be a djin, a demon from pre-Islamic Arabian religions. It could even be the bitter memories of Loki emerging from his subconscious. From the early access press event, we learned that Basim suffers traumatic nightmares throughout the game connected to Loki trying to take control of his mind. There really is a lot to be excited about from this trailer, and for some, it will be a blessing, as the game seems to take the series back to its roots. After the trailer we return to the panel, who are joined by Narrative Director Sarah Beaulieu from Ubisoft Bordeaux. She confirms that Mirage will take Assassin's Creed back to the action-adventure game genre that focusses on narrative. Three key focusses for this game are stealth, parkour and assassinations, something which is extremely reassuring for fans. She reveals that Baghdad is a beautiful, dense city full of interesting people, including historical figures such as political leaders Uncover the secrets of four unique districts, from the industrial Karkh to the lush gardens of the Round City. Discover surprising world events and interact with historical figures that shaped the Golden Age of Baghdad. x3 editions of Assassin's Creed Mirage are now available for pre-order: (Photos below) Standard Edition Deluxe Edition Collectors Case Built as an homage to the first Assassin's Creed games, Mirage pays tribute to the series' roots, as players join the proto-Assassin order known as the Hidden Ones and grow to become a master assassin. Baghdad in the ninth century was a bustling metropolis, and it serves as the perfect dense, urban hunting ground as Basim stalks his prey using the series' largest assortment of tools to date. While they haven't quite adopted the name "Assassins" at this point in history, make no mistake: The Hidden Ones are a powerful and established order, with resources and the all-important creed to guide them. As Basim explores Baghdad, he'll be able to get contracts and upgrades from a network of Hidden One bureaus throughout the city, collect clues on his targets, and take them down with swift assassinations. Assassin's Creed Documentary: Beyond the Creed We were thrilled to see the release of a beautiful yet short documentary that covers the Assassin's Creed community and its members! As the documentary explores, the Creed unifies us globally, and explores some of the highlights of the last 15 years, and how fans can connect with the series. It was nice to see recognisable community members like Claudio, Marco and JorRaptor participating in interviews, along with veteran Assassin's Creed developers Jean Guesdon and Darby McDevitt. We also noticed a brief cameo from Assassin's Creed United Kingdom admin Dave Woodward. If you use your eagle vision just before the seven minute mark, you might be able to spot him briefly. Congrats to all the community members who featured! You can watch Beyond the Creed now on Youtube! Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter The showcases moves on to the future of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, with the final expansion coming later in the year. Gareth Glover, Game Director for Post-Launch content on the game introduces Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter, which will conclude Eivor's journey and tie up loose ends. In the trailer (below) Eivor feels close to Odin once more, but realises that the time has come to say goodbye, and set forth for distant shores. It's clear that this expansion is made possible by Basim using an Animus to explore Eivor's memories, as the unmistakable voice of Carlo Rota returns as the now-Modern Day Assassin. ''Where will this new conflict take you I wonder'' Basim ponders thoughtfully. He is fascinated by the connection between Eivor and Odin, as it differs greatly from his own connection to Loki. The teaser also shows Eivor's memories desynchronising, suggesting that her story is coming to an end. Although no release date is given for The Last Chapter, it is likely to launch at the end of 2022. Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade Next up the panel brings on Marc-Alexis Côté, Former Creative Director on Assassin's Creed Syndicate and more recently Producer on Assassin's Creed Odyssey. His new role is Vice-Executive Producer for Assassin's Creed. When asked about the future of the series, he responds by saying the company are going to take Assassin's Creed to new territories. Their mission as a company is to enrich the lives of players, and make history everybody's playground. Going forward, the company are going to 'double down' on their passion for history, and explore the past with courage. For Côté and the rest of team, history is a great source of entertainment that can help players understand the world around them today. The reveal shows off an upcoming open world mobile game, titled 'Codename Jade', an Assassin's Creed mobile game set in Ancient China (215 BCE). It will feature all of the iconic Assassin's Creed gameplay, but is optimised for an experience that can be played using touch controls. The teaser features in-game footage, and shows an Assassin synchronising the Great Wall of China, whilst an oriental version of Ezio's family plays in the background. For the first time ever, you can create your own character in an Assassin's Creed game! An eagle flies above the Chinese architectural structures He wears white robes with a grey matted hood, but if you look carefully, you can see the red sash beneath his belt, the recognisable sign of a Master Assassin. This Assassin wear a traditional white outfit mixed with a grey hood and golden shoulder pad. It could that outfits are fully customisable in this game, as you can create your own character. The trailer ends with the Assassin performing the leap of faith, an eagle screech, and a look at the Assassin's Creed Jade logo, which of course, features an emerald green insignia and text. Codename Jade is shaping up to be a very interesting project, but some fans may be upset to see Ancient China being used for an open world mobile game rather than a main game. Either way, we're excited to learn more about this ambitious upcoming Assassin's Creed project! Assassin's Creed Netflix Series & Mobile Game Unfortunately the event provided very little new information about the upcoming Assassin's Creed Netflix TV Show, but did confirm that the project is still in development, along with a new mobile game. Press Release via Ubisoft News ''Assassin’s Creed is coming to streaming devices and no, we’re not talking about xCloud or Luna. A brand-new, live-action Assassin’s Creed series is coming to Netflix. The deal includes multiple different series, the first of which will be a genre-bending live-action epic, while the others will be animated and anime adaptations. The live action series is currently searching for a showrunner. Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers. “For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise,” said Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television - Los Angeles. “We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix, and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.'' It's good to hear that the Netflix TV series is still in development, as it was first announced back in October 2022, leading some to wonder if it had been scrapped. We still don't really know anything about the show, but the additional announcement of a new mobile game in development will only make the partnership between Netflix and Ubisoft even stronger. Assassin's Creed: Codename Red The next main game will be Feudal Japan! At long last, Assassin's Creed will cover one of the most highly requested settings! Codename Red is the next premium flagship title, and the future of the open world RPG Assassin's Creed games. It is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec, under the creative direction of Jonathan Dumont. Players will take charge of a very powerful Shinobi fantasy. The teaser is short, but shows an agile Assassin jumping onto a rooftop and activating a hidden blade. No release date was given for this project, but we can assume it will probably be 2024 or after if Mirage is set to launch in 2023. Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe The tease for Assassin's Creed Hexe is extremely ominous, panning down through the treeline and towards an Assassin insignia made of twigs, reminding viewers of The Blair Witch project. T Immediately you think of the occult, something which may not traditionally be expected when thinking about the future of Assassin's Creed. It seems that Hexe will be a smaller title, perhaps similar in length to Mirage, and can be played through the Assassin's Creed Infinity game hub. Here is an extract from our Assassin's Creed Hexe breakdown by Preston Carbonaro, which will launch later today! “Codename Hexe” (pronounced hex-uh). ‘Hexe’ is the German word for ‘witch’. In English we use very similar words like ‘hex’ or ‘hexed’, which mean: to cast a spell on; to bewitch. So, taking into consideration all of these ideas and how closely related they are to each other, I am assuming that Codename Hexe will revolve around the witch trials which took place in 17th century Germany. Namely the Würzburg witch trials of 1625-1631.'' We can't wait to learn more about this darker Assassin's Creed title! Assassin's Creed: Project Infinity The final reveal of the show was Assassin's Creed Infinity, which was first announced back in 2021. As we expected, Infinity is a not actually a game, but a hub for all things Assassin's Creed. It is to become the single entry point for players to access Assassin's Creed going forward. In the tease, you can see Hexe and Codename Red being accessible through the Infinity Infinity will connect players, and the teams at Ubisoft are now looking at ways to bring back standalone multiplayer experiences, all connected to the Infinity Hub. According to Axios, a new multiplayer Assassin’s Creed game called Invictus is also in development, being produced by Ubisoft developers who worked on multiplayer franchises Rainbow 6 Siege and For Honor. We hope that it becomes home to not only games and new content, but audiobooks like AC Gold, and transmedia too! A digital home to house your Assassin's Creed content! Just no NFTs please Ubisoft. The Future of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla: The Last Chapter (Late 2022) AC Mirage (2023) Project Red (Feudal Japan: 2023+) • Project Hexe (Witch hunt era Europe: 2023+) Project Jade (Open world mobile set in China 2023+) Live action Netflix series & mobile game ( 2023+) AC games not in development, despite rumors, Côté confirmed to Axios: A remake of the first Assassin’s Creed Series “crossover” set in Egypt. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Deine Meinung teilen Jetzt den ersten Kommentar verfassen. Rally the Creed Video Podcast #1: Assassin's Creed Mirage, New Podcast Format & Choices in AC Podcast Share 10 Apr 2023 Written By: Edited By: Colum Blackett (Col_96) Ashlea Blackett Back To Database The Ones Who Came Before Team are proud to launch the reboot of our original podcast, Rally the Creed! The original mini-podcast series aired back in 2020 during lockdown, but for the reboot, we have decided to make two major changes. Each episode of Rally the Creed (2023+) will be released in three versions: Video, Audio and Transcript, as to create a more personal experience, and allow for viewers to enjoy the podcast in multiple ways. The second and most important change is host rotation, as we plan on getting different members of TOWCB Team to host each episode. We hope that this new and exciting structure keeps the podcast fresh, and helps it to stand out from other fan projects. The new series will cover a huge range of topics relating to the Assassin's Creed series, and give a voice to community members. For some, the podcast will provide the opportunity to step out of the shadows for the first time, and introduce themselves to the community, whilst for others, it becomes a meeting place for long-time fans of the series to discuss all things Assassin's Creed. In episode #1 , Col and Michael from TOWCB Core Team discuss Assassin's Creed Mirage, the new podcast format and choices in Assassin's Creed. • Assassin's Creed Shadows Year 1 Post-Launch Roadmap Full Breakdown | TheOnesWhoCameBefore

Assassin's Creed Shadows Year 1 Post-Launch Roadmap Full Breakdown News Share 30 Apr 2025 Written By: Edited By: Zephryss Colum Blackett Back To Database Ubisoft has finally unveiled an extensive post-launch roadmap for Assassin's Creed Shadows, aiming to enrich the player experience with lots of free content updates, gameplay enhancements, and a major expansion. Here's a full overview of what's on the horizon for the game: 1. Claws of Awaji Expansion The first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for release later in 2025, this expansion continues the journey of Naoe and Yasuke on the island of Awaji, a brand-new region for players to explore which continues Naoe and Yasuke's story right after the end of Shadows' epilogue. There will be new enemies, abilities, and the introduction of a new weapon called Bo staff for Naoe. Those who pre-ordered the game will receive this expansion at no additional cost. 2. Story Drops Ubisoft plans to roll out multiple free quests for Assassin's Creed Shadows named "Story Drops," which will delve deeper into character backstories and introduce new abilities, new allies and new world activities. The first quest titled “The Works of Luis Frois”, is set to launch in early May, offering players a deeper look at the titular historical Jesuit scholar who's work about the Sengoku period of Japan endures to this day. Images via Ubisoft 3. Parkour Enhancements Responding to community feedback, the game will receive updates to its parkour mechanics. In the first update coming later in May Ubisoft will add most requested height-gaining back-ejects, fully re-animated height-gaining side-ejects, and a brand-new parkour move called the Vertical Ledge Jump, allowing both characters to jump and grab onto awnings and lower overhangs. 4. Photo Mode Upgrades The Photo Mode will also be expanded with additional filters, stickers, character poses, facial expressions, and ambient music, allowing players to better capture and share their in-game moments in feudal Japan. 5. Community Feedback Community feedback has been a core focus of Ubisoft throughout development of Assassin's Creed Shadows and there are more to come. The second Community Feedback Update in June, which will allow players to toggle the headgear on during dialogues and cutscenes, as well as customize their immersion further. Players will be free to disable individual visual effects such as weapon glints during combat, black-and-white (and red) ability filters, target assassination celebration effects, and disabling stealth outlines when the character is vanished. The Alarm System will also be expanded and are bringing it to the Open-World to give players even more challenges! 6. Future Updates Ubisoft has also revealed that the future updates of Assassin's Creed Shadows will bring more free Animus Hub content, a pretty fleshed-out New Game + mode, which will also raise the level cap, and for those players looking for a challenge, developers are hard at work on an even tougher difficulty setting for both combat and stealth. We can't wait to see what's next for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Stay tuned here at The Ones Who Came Before for all things Assassin's Creed. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment. • Breaking News: Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed Crossover for Valhalla and Odyssey, marking the return of Kassandra | TheOnesWhoCameBefore

Breaking News: Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed Crossover for Valhalla and Odyssey, marking the return of Kassandra News Share 13 Dec 2021 Written By: Edited By: Colum Blackett (Col_96) Ashlea Blackett Back To Database Ubisoft has today officially announced a new project titled 'Assassin's Creed Crossover Stories', which will add new content to previously releases entries, see the return of fan favourite characters, and answer the many unanswered questions that the series still poses. Launching December 14th 2021, the crossover event will see the immortal Misthios Kassandra meet Eivor the Wolf Kissed. The announcement follows months of speculation fuelled by datamining discoveries and leaks. At it's core, the crossover content is fan service, and a great way of getting players to return to Ancient Greece, alongside introducing new players to previously established characters. The short but free experiences are split between two entries, with each storyline lasting 2-3 hours per game. The crossover kicks off with an addition to Assassin's Creed Odyssey titled 'Those who are Treasured'. The Misthios (Kassandra or Alexios) must learn to live with her new found immortality, and is persuaded by her friend Barnabas to go on a treasure hunt, leading to the discovery of a Piece of Eden. The Valhalla crossover titled 'A Fated Encounter', has Eivor travel to the Isle of Skye in search of a mysterious object that has been causing the locals to experience nightmares. In a teaser trailer released earlier today, she initially mistakes Kassandra for Randvi, something which fans will no doubt pick up on, as during the marketing campaign for Valhalla, theories circulated that Randvi could actually be Kassandra in disguise due to their similarity in appearance. Kassandra and Eivor clash, creating a battle that will no doubt be a challenge for players. Also added to each game are new areas of the map to discover, with the introduction of Korfu (a Greek island in the Ionian Sea) and the mysterious Isle of Skye in Scotland. It's also worth noting that Ubisoft have decided to stick to canon for the Valhalla crossover storyline, only allowing Kassandra to meet Eivor on the Isle of Skye, something which is to be commended after two very one sided marketing campaign for both Odyssey and Valhalla, which heavily featured the non-canon protagonists. Official Crossover Promo Image Although the crossover storylines are on paper, fan fiction, the team seem to have found a way of bringing it to life in a lore friendly way. It could perhaps be that the concept is the first real glimpse at what lies ahead with 'Assassin's Creed Infinity', a project that is being led by a new cross-studio collaborative structure that will see one group within Ubisoft made up of multiple teams working on Assassin's Creed coherently. The new content is also potentially a big stepping stone for the series, as only a few years ago, the pitching of a crossover storyline within Ubisoft may have found itself side-lined to transmedia material such as a comic book. Execution is everything when it comes to adding new content to previously released games, as it risks creating lore errors and inconsistencies which could lead to retcons. If done correctly though, it has the potential to establish a platform that can be used to tie up loose ends and finally answer the many lingering questions that still remain years after release. For example, what happened to Arno Dorian, and did Connor and Shay ever meet, Although fans will no doubt be excited about the crossover storylines, they are not a new thing for the series. Unity and Rogue shared a narrative bridge as Shay Cormac travelled to Paris to assassinate Arno's Dorian's father, a moment we see in both games. In Assassin's Creed Liberation, Aveline de Grandpré is sent to New York to assist fellow Assassin Ratonhnhaké꞉ton / Connor with a mission. The concept of the pair becoming love interests was initially explored during pre-production, in a pairing dubbed 'Connorline' by the internet, but the two were ultimately decided to be incompatible by the development team. The possibilities for 'Assassin's Creed Crossovers' are endless, and we here at TOWCB can't wait to experience the new storylines. Look out for our reviews over the coming weeks. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Partagez vos idées Soyez le premier à rédiger un commentaire. • Assassin’s Creed Virtual Photography: 18th to 29th March 2024 | TheOnesWhoCameBefore

Assassin’s Creed Virtual Photography: 18th to 29th March 2024 Community Share 16 Apr 2024 Written By: Edited By: Aaron Young Colum Blackett Back To Database Welcome to the biweekly virtual photography roundup hosted by Aaron Young from the AC Partnership Program. Every two weeks we will be picking our top 5 favourite Assassin’s Creed shots and showcasing them on The Ones Who Came Before website, in order to promote virtual photography and talented content creators within the community. Keep an eye on the site as more shots are added, we are looking for captures across all Assassin’s Creed games. Tag your photos to #ACFirstCivVP for a chance to be featured. This theme week: Parkour Looking to Sync Game: Assassin’s Creed Mirage VP Artist: Eric Allen (@ Milz_VP ) The Ones Who Came Before Photo of the Week Aaron ( FalconSwift87 ) The return to the roots with Assassin’s Creed Mirage brings back the experience of an Assassin traversing a city in search of his target. It’s a feeling of nostalgia that many fans have enjoyed. Climbing structures with Eivor or Kassandra always felt slightly out of place. Here we have an intriguing shot of Basim scaling one of the tall structures found throughout Baghdad. I really like how the composition creates a sense of height and danger. The sandy tones mixed with the sky-blue work to reinforce the location of this excellent capture. Watch for the Shadows Game: Assassin’s Creed Mirage VP Artist: @ m_nt_13 Aaron ( FalconSwift87 ) I was happy when the team suggested running a parkour theme as Assassin’s Creed is so famous for this form of traversing. As the games have progressed the standard has constantly been raised and we have been able to climb almost any structure in the game. This capture really resonates with me as I am a fan of this type of photo. The lighting is immense and serves to highlight the beautiful details on the Baghdad building. Not only that but it casts a shadow of Basim and the line he is crossing. Once again, the composition is great, and I like that Basim is slightly off centre. Taking in the Sights Game: Assassin’s Creed Origins VP Artist: @ visionevp Aaron ( FalconSwift87 ) We could not have this theme without a return to the beginning with Bayek and the pyramids. Although a large proportion of Assassin’s Creed Origins is desert the cities are a great place to get your free run on. I will never forget my first time scaling the elegant pyramids, and that awesome sensation as you slide down one. This shot is impressive as it combines both parkour and some stunning scenery. I love the orange tones mixed with the pure white, and Bayek contrasts excellently with these. His pose is perfect and reminds me of Senu his eagle companion. Escaping Game: Assassin’s Creed Origins VP Artist: @ UnfazedVP Aaron ( FalconSwift87 ) I think my favourite Assassin’s Creed for parkour is Unity. The speed in which you could traverse the rooftops was very satisfying. I also enjoyed the almost cinematic moments when escaping through buildings or windows. Here Julio has recreated something similar that takes me back to 2014. This is a clean shot that has three colours working beautifully together. The red sash is eye catching, and Bayek’s black robes give him a tremendous Assassin feel. Once again, the light hitting the sandy building works to contrast against Bayek. He works in the dark to serve the light. Searching for Trouble Game: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla VP Artist: @ BasimIbnIshaq_ Aaron ( FalconSwift87 ) With the talk of Assassin’s Creed Red having two playable characters, I started to think what Valhalla would have been like if we switched between Eivor and Basim. I think it would have worked excellently with the tension between the two and the obvious assassin and warrior mentalities. Here we can see Basim approaching a straw roof building on what looks like London. I guess this shot is from the discovery tour. I love the choice of outfit and the positioning is on point. I also like how the white of his robes stand out clearly against the darker background. Assassin's Creed Virtual Photography Showcase - March 2024 Video edited by Turið Torkilsdóttir. This Week in Assassin’s Creed Virtual Photography: 20th to 26th March Community Share 28 Mar 2023 Written By: Edited By: Aaron Young Ashlea Blackett Back To Database Welcome to the weekly virtual photography roundup hosted by Aaron Young from The AC Partnership Program. Every week I will be picking our top 5 favourite Assassin’s Creed shots and showcasing them on The Ones Who Came Before website, in order to promote virtual photography and talented content creators within the community. Aaron is a keen virtual photographer and loves to post his journeys through Assassin’s Creed on Twitter. Keep an eye on the site as more weekly shots are added, we are looking for captures across all Assassin’s Creed games. Tag your photos to the #TOWCBWeeklyCapture for a chance to be featured. This week’s theme: Assassin’s Creed Thor Game: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla VP Artist: @ Twisted95733554 What a way to start this week’s showcase, this capture of Havi dressed as the God of Thunder is truly magnificent. I love the edit on this shot, the blurred lines give a sense that he is flying through the air. The details are captured so well with every bit of that helmet shining through. For me this is a work of art, I would happily hang it on my wall. Red Hood Game: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey VP Artist: @ missroseplays Next up we have a wonderful portrait of Kassandra. This shot has an epic contrast between the black background and that dazzling red hood. Loving the shadow work across her face adding to the intrigue. The whole pose for me vibes vigilante, hiding in the shadows. The mix of Assassin hood and warrior armour works a treat. It’s just such a beautiful capture. The Ones Who Came Before Photo of the Week: Judge: Gustav Poulsen (Gargudon) Taking the title of Photo of the Week this round is ''Red Hood'' by @missroseplays. A beautiful shot with a very cinematic vibe, that perfectectly captures the stealth and shadow of an Assassin's iconic hood. An interesting blend of colours, that perhaps also has a certain movie poster element to it. Wanderer Game: Assassin’s Creed Origins VP Artist: @ DawnX90 Up next this week we have Bayek wandering the desert. I remember doing this a fair bit in the early parts of the game. At the time the desert just looked so immense, and the scale of the map was larger than what we had previously seen. The contrast here between the sand and the sky just makes the shot. Nice touch to have Bayek walking, especially with the sand kicking up behind him. Gates to Valhalla Game: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla VP Artist: @ Kaizen_VP Photo number four is so captivating. Without the tags this shot could easily be from God of War Ragnarok. I am really enjoying the perspective of this capture, everything about it peaks my interest. The door slightly ajar makes me wonder what is beyond, and I love the candles lighting the way. The tree overhanging is so ominous, almost giving me Yggdrasil vibes. Without question a perfect shot for our unofficial #Thorsday tag. A Quite Ride Game: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey VP Artist: @ UVioletra We end this week’s showcase with a beautiful shot of Kassandra riding through the woods. This capture is from a breath-taking set that tells the story of the Eagle Bearers travels across Greece. What drew me to this particular shot is the frame, once added it makes for a wonderful piece of artwork. Although I am loving the greenery, it’s that red on the helmet that really stands out. I can’t wait to return to this game now. Link to set: And that sums it up for this week’s Assassin’s Creed virtual photography recap list! Thank you for checking out this week’s photo collection. This Week in Assassin's Creed Virtual Photography: February 1st - 7th Community Share 11 Feb 2021 Written By: Edited By: Kevin (Going Viking) Ashlea Blackett Back To Database Welcome back to another round of our virtual photography showcase, which will now be guest hosted by Kevin McAllister (Going Viking) from The AC Partnership Program. Each week, five Assassin's Creed shots will be hosted here on TOWCB website in order to promote virtual photography and community contributions. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates, as we aim to bring you a great range of community captures. 1) Ancient Ruins by Sarah Gurrado This photo shouts Assassin's Creed. A stunning shot of Eivor jumping around the ruins reminds you of the Ezio days. The sun is perfectly aligned under the feet with Sýnin in the backdrop creating a shot that will instantly remind you of what makes Assassin's Creed so great. 2) Family is Home by @ Miss Misthios This silhouette shot of Kassandra and Ikaros defines Odyssey with its beauty and strength. The vibrant sky and perfect use of depth of field makes this photo resemble a painting. 3) Conquering a new world by @ NoviKaiba23 Assassin's Creed Valhalla is filled with limitless things to do and one of those things is raiding. This gorgeous photo captures Eivor blowing the horn in assassin type fashion as Sýnin soars across the sky toward the monastery. The blue sky, red leaves and fog provide this capture with the beautiful environment that Valhalla is known for. 4) Sailing Misthios by @SofaGamersRAW A unique perspective shot with a bird's eye view of a sailing Misthios in Odyssey with the crystal clear blue water. As your eye gravitates to the boat from the top of the sail you can see the ripples in the water trailing behind. Makes me want to jump right back in to Odyssey! 5) Winter Chase by @ StefanieMcMaken A peaceful moment in time. Great timing here to capture the deer running through the snow in Norway. Using the trees to frame the shot with the deer right in the middle provides a picture perfect shot. And that sums it up for this week’s Assassin’s Creed virtual photography recap list! Don’t forget to check out next week’s list when that rolls around, and be sure to send your best captures to us directly via Instagram or Twitter for a chance to be featured on it! comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment. Fans debated over how realistic the concept of a female Viking warrior was. Could a female Eivor be historically accurate? Or was it simply a gameplay decision made for the benefit of representation and player choice? In this article, we look at the true history of women during the Viking era and the role they played in their society. According to Judith Jesch, Professor of Viking Studies at the University of Nottingham and the author of Women in the Viking Age (1991), women could not be Vikings as the Old Norse word “vikingar” only applied to men. The idea of female Viking warriors being a historical fact seems to have originated with a DNA study into the remains found in a grave in Birka, Sweden, in 1889. For over one hundred years, the remains were assumed to be of a male warrior. However, in 2017, DNA proved that the bones belonged to a woman. The researchers then published their assessment that the deceased must have been a warrior woman. The reasoning for this was due to the possessions found in the grave, such as pieces of a chess-like board game. Items like this were often found in the graves of warriors, and so the assumption was made that this must have been a warrior. Vikings historians were quick to dispute this conclusion, however. For one, there was no concrete evidence that board games had any connection to warriors. Also, it was very possible that bones had been mixed together during burials, and that this was not specifically a warrior’s grave. Sadly, most scholars believe that female Viking warriors simply did not exist. However, that does not mean that women had no role in Viking society. Actually, research shows that Viking era women had a level of equality with men that most societies would not achieve for many, many years. In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players can let the Animus choose which perspective to view the memory stream from depending on its strength. This is to encourage fans to play as both characters, rather than as just one. Women had a number of important roles in Viking society. Many of these involved work around the house and farm – but women were not simple housewives. In fact, they were responsible for all the wealth in their household. The women controlled the money and the keys to the property. If the men wanted to use either of these things, they would have to go to their wives first. Additionally, since the men were often away exploring, raiding, or voyaging, the women were in charge of making the decisions. They were the ones left behind to keep the economy flourishing and prevent the village from falling apart. In what was an incredibly progressive move for the time, women were allowed to have occupations outside of the home. They were traders, priestesses, and even rune masters. Often, women would produce textiles and sell them in the village. Sometimes, the power of a woman could overshadow her husband. Some men would admire their wives for this fiery personality, but others would feel emasculated. Regardless, society always respected a powerful woman. Evidence of a powerful Viking era woman was found in a burial in Oseberg. Remains of a woman, assumed to be of nobility or even royalty, were found buried in a large ship. She was interred with carved wooden furniture, a tapestry, fine bedding, and household utensils. This suggested that she had power within the society and was respected by her peers. Law was also much fairer to women in the Viking Age than in other periods of history. Women were able to inherit land from their parents, though less than their brothers would receive. A woman would also receive money from her groom upon marriage, of a similar value to the dowry she would present to him. Married couples in the Viking Age were able to divorce, a progressive concept in itself, and if they did, the woman would get to keep her own dowry and that of her groom. They were also free to remarry without judgement. Abuse of women was not tolerated in Viking society. Rape of a woman was a crime punishable by exile, and a woman could demand a divorce if her husband hit her three times. That said, female infidelity was not acceptable and was punished, though men were allowed to have mistresses. Another way that Vikings showed their appreciation for the women in their lives was through rune stones. Whilst most rune stones were erected for men, many were also erected in memory of women. This shows that Vikings wanted people to remember their women and felt that they deserved the same memorial as the men. Despite the historians suggesting that female Viking warriors did not exist, there are many stories in Norse literature of women riding into battle alongside the men. Where did these myths come from? The Icelandic sagas with tales of Viking shield-maidens and Valkyries were written centuries after the Viking Age, which makes it difficult to believe the stories they tell. However, what these sagas do show is the way the Norse respected and admired strong women in their society. The women in these stories were depicted in various ways. Some were Valkyries sent by the god Odin to retrieve fallen warriors from the battlefield and bring them to Valhalla. Some were mortal but with supernatural powers, like fortune tellers and prophets. Others were regular humans who picked up a sword and shield and went into battle with their male counterparts. Famous female warriors in Norse literature include Sigrdrifa the Valkyrie, who appears in the poem Sigrdrífumál also featuring Sigurd the Dragonslayer. While little historical evidence has been found to support the idea of Viking warrior women existing, there have been some accounts which could lend support to the theory. One is from an Irish history book written in the 12th century which speaks of a warrior named “The Red Maiden” who attacked Munster with a Viking fleet in the 10th century. Another is from 11th century Greek historian Johannes Skylitze who recorded that there were armed female Vikings among the warriors who attacked the Byzantines in Bulgaria in 971. As with the Icelandic sagas, though, the fact these sources were written hundreds of years after the Viking age makes the stories less credible. Other evidence which could suggest female Viking warriors existed comes from two sets of remains found in Norway. One set was the skeleton of a woman around 20 years old who was buried with a complete set Viking weaponry. The other was a skeleton of a woman around 18 years old who had a full set of weaponry along with equipment for a horse. There is little reason for the women to be buried with these possessions unless they were important to them, suggesting that they could have been warriors themselves. However, under Viking law, a woman would gain all her husband’s belongings upon his death. It could be that these weapons belonged to their warrior husbands and were buried with the wives for sentimental reasons. To conclude, historians believe that the existence of Viking warrior women is unlikely – and so too would be a character like female Eivor. However, it is clear that women held more power in Viking society than any other culture for years to come. Women were not subservient and they were free to make their own decisions in life. It is said that no one could tell a Viking era woman what to do. We have to wonder then if a woman wanted to be a Viking warrior, who was going to stop her? In that case, maybe there were female warriors lost to the annals of history – and maybe Eivor was one of them.
